4 Tips for an Engaging Virtual Event

Going on three years into a global pandemic, many people have learned the joys and horrors of video conferencing for meetings and conferences. For example, virtual conferencing can be a safe and efficient way to connect with your employees, distributors, or customers. But it can also lead to tons of technical snafus and bored participants.

Our team at Next Phase Media is highly experienced in producing compelling virtual events and hybrid events (i.e., live events with a simultaneous virtual component). While many think of live-streaming as an afterthought, we understand how to choreograph online elements into a successful production.

Here are some tips to keep your virtual event interesting:

#1 - Fun visuals.

We’ve all zoned out while on an endless Zoom call. Don’t just be another talking head. Create fun visuals that help the audience engage with your content and message.

#2 - Charismatic moderators.

Public speaking and crowd wrangling is a skill, even virtually. Use charismatic MCs to provide fun “brain breaks” in between content-heavy speeches.

#3 - Host site that is easy to navigate.

Most virtual conferences have an accompanying host website with the relevant agenda. Make sure that it’s easy to navigate so that it enhances the user experience instead of distracting participants from your message.

#4 - High production value.

You need quality camera work, lighting, sound, and stable internet to pull off a seamless live stream. While it may be tempting to cut corners on a virtual production, you shouldn’t sacrifice these components if you want to signal a quality brand and keep your audience engaged.

Let’s talk about how we can help you succeed in your next virtual event.
